UK Government gives go-ahead for Sizewell B nuclear power plant

The UK Government has given approval for the new  Sizewell C nuclear power on the Suffolk coast.  The project is expected to cost about £20 billion and will be mostly funded by EDF.  EDF says that the new plant will operate for around 60 years  and generate about 7% of the UK’s energy needs. However, negotiations about raising funds are still ongoing and a decision about finance is expected in 2023.
